One thing I love about Mac OS X (compare to Windows) is the fact that it has a substantial built-in support for taking screenshot from the get go! Unlike Windows which has only two screenshot shortcuts, i.e. PrtScn (to take the whole screen) and Alt+PrtScn (to take the active window), Mac OS X has several ways of taking a screenshot: To take a Screenshot of the whole screen: Command+Shift+3 : Take a screenshot and save it to the Desktop Command+Ctrl+Shift+3 : Take a screenshot and save it to the... 3 UK HTC Hero + Spotify Launch Party
Following the announcement from both 3-UK and Spotify not long ago, yesterday 3-UK held a Launch Party to celebrate its new handset HTC Hero (a second generation Android phone from HTC), which includes a subscription to Spotify Premium account for a 24 months contract. The party started with a private gathering at the Proud Gallery Central – London, some of us dressing-up like rock-star (that was the theme of the night). When most of us had gathered, Emma Wells, who is 3’s Product Manager,... Read→
Uninstalling Application from Nokia N97
Sometimes in the midst of anger and frustration (in my case I installed an app the wasn’t compatible with my N97, ignoring the warning), your mind just suddenly blocked and all rationales go through the window. It happened to me, I went into every menu item (that I thought the most sensible place) for a few minutes trying to find where the bloody ‘application manager’, and I just couldn’t find it! A geek, like me, couldn’t find a simple menu item?! That’s just... Read→
3-UK INQ Mini 3G Meetup
Earlier this week, I got invited on a meet-up by 3-UK. The purpose of this meet-up was to kick-off a trial of their newest handset, the INQ Mini 3G. In addition to being lent a review handset, the occasion was also an opportunity to meet with a couple of people whom together represented the team which involves in the INQ Mini Campaign, as well as some fellow geeks :) Representing 3-UK were Sarah Bolwell (@sarahbolwell – Consumer PR) and David Moore (Product and Services), whereas from INQ... BE Broadband – The Best Broadband Provider in the UK
I don’t think I’ve done any product recommendation in this blog before, but today I would like to tell you about what I would call simply ‘the best’ broadband provider in the UK! Friends, meet BE Broadband! How can I say this? Well, as you could probably have guessed, I’m an internet addict, and a fussy one at that :) I want the fastest, reliable, unlimited, flexible, reasonably priced and good support broadband I could get my hands on. And 3 years ago, I found ‘all’... Read→
Google Calendar Got Labs
Today I was reading one of my favourite feed, The Next Web, and they posted a news on Google Calendar getting its own labs features. I believe the roll-out has been staggered, so I went to mine and check, to see if I’ve got it. And here they are: Read More →
Keyboard Shortcut To Open Folders Or Files And Run Programs In Mac
As a Windows User whom recently ‘converted’ to Mac, I am used to do a certain things the Windows way. One thing that is for me a very fundamental functionality in Windows is if you press the Enter key in Windows Explorer, it will either open a highlighted folder/file, or run a highlighted program. But, of course, as you’ve probably known, in a Mac if you try to do the same as the above and expect the same result, then you would be ‘very disappointed. Because if you press... Read→
How To Show Folder Size In Finder
Normally if you look at your Finder, the column ’size’ for folders will show ‘-’. Occasionally, for example when you want to see which folders take up the most space so you can free them up, you would want to see the size of those folders. So, here is how to do that: 1. On the Finder menu, click on View -> Show View Options (or Command-J). 2. The ‘View Options‘ will be shown as below. 3. Now the only thing you need to do is tick the checkbox next to ‘Calculate... Nokia N97 Is Finally Here .. In My Hand!
It has been more than 6 months since Nokia launched its lates N-Series mobile phone N97 at Nokia World 2008. Finally the wait is over, at least for us here in the UK. The N97 was launched last Friday for almost all the major mobile Networks, except O2 ! And that for me was a ‘bummer‘, because I have been O2 customer for as long as I had my first mobile phone, and today I had to, very reluctantly, moved to Orange. Luckily, the handset is Unlocked, so I can put any SIM card in it... Read→
What Gender Is Computer?
I don’t usually post a joke, but this one really made me ROFL, not just because it’s really funny, but most of all because it’s very TRUE :) But then again, the best jokes usually the ones that mimic our real life, wouldn’t you agree? To give credit when credit is due though, I’ve heard this joke in Boagworld Podcast (Episode 168). Boagworld is probably the first podcast with topics such as Web Design/Development/Owning etc, that is hosted by Paul Boag and Marcus... Read→
